Jolie shoulders 'Atlas'

Angelina Jolie is set to star in the film adaptation of Ayn Rand's iconic tome "Atlas Shrugged" for Lionsgate.
Jolie, a longtime fan of Rand's, was eager to play the role of Dagny Taggart, the most powerful female character in any of Rand's books.
Weighty gig for Wallace

Writer-director Randall Wallace wasn't about to shrug off the chance to adapt Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" for the bigscreen.
Wallace, the "Braveheart" scribe known for taking on epic themes, will begin penning the script immediately for Lionsgate.
Trio put bucks on pucks

Howard and Karen Baldwin are teaming with David E. Kelley to produce a feature based on the origins of the World Hockey Assn. and hockey great Gordie Howe.
Howe will exec produce along with Mike Ilitch Jr., whose family owns the Detroit Red Wings. Kelley will also oversee the scripting process, though it's not yet decided if he'll write.
Biopic on Jackie Robinson in the Works

LOS ANGELES - The makers of the Ray Charles film "Ray" are taking on another story about breaking racial barriers. Baldwin Entertainment Group is producing a film biography of baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson, with an assist from Robert Redford, whose Wildwood Enterprises will co-produce.
